Piano concert by Steven Vrancken
Steven Vrancken (solo) – Visionary Modern Classical
“Suppose you would have told me 22 years ago that one day I would produce piano concerts for a lying audience of more than 100 people, and cinematic classical and world music… I would have declared you crazy.
Especially since I was already 23 years old at the time and had never touched piano, and could not read scores. Everything changed during a cold winter in Montreal, while I was finishing my depressing university studies. Out of sheer boredom and apathy, I went to my roommate’s piano and touched a piano key for the first time in my life….
Such a deeply moving experience! Woooow! That moment had changed my life forever. It tasted, fundamentally, like coming home. Music helped me find the silence within. And that is also what my performances are about: to make silence, as a canvas of music, palpable to the audience.
Meanwhile, several hundred performances later and with nearly 9 million streams on Spotify, some five albums and 20 or so singles, and several film/docu projects… the passion continues to grow and blossom further. “
His compositions exude a palpable calm and serenity, … Ludovico Einaudi, Max Richter, Joep Beving, O´lafur Arnalds, Wim Mertens, Nils Frahm,… names of established neoclassical artists that fans and various media are mouthing in relation to Steven’s music. Surprising because, unlike them, Vrancken has never had any formal musical training.
